Mosquito Surveillance Field Day

The Indiana State Department of Health is very pleased to announce a Mosquito Surveillance Field Day, co-hosted by ISDH and the Hamilton County Health Department. It will be held June 21, from 9 AM to 4 PM Eastern time at The Hamilton Co HD. Morning sessions will include mosquito biology and important species in Indiana, larval and adult surveillance methods and tips for building a mosquito control program with limited resources. Afternoon sessions will be field based, and will cover larval dipping and adult mosquito trapping techniques. This is an outstanding free opportunity, and a request has been made to make the program available for Category 8 and RT credit hours from the State Chemist’s Office. The Health Department address is 18030 Foundation Dr., Noblesville, IN 46060. If you would like to attend, please contact HCHD at

Free Online Vector Control Education

Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Diseases has a series of online classes regarding Vector Control for Environmental Health Professionals.  The topics range from vector-borne diseases to bed bugs.  It is a very good source of information and hands-on.  The classes are not someone speaking the whole time.  The National Environmental Health Association recognizes the program for credits.  Certificates of participation are provided to turn into NEHA.
